WHAT'S DIFFERENT ABOUT OLDFIELDS?
Crafted by good local folk.
Our new draught cider, know simply as 'Oldfields' is already set to be our flagship cider!
So why is Oldfields different to the generic ciders you see on tap in many pubs? Well, firstly it's the quantity of freshly picked and pressed apples used in every glass. It's not how many apples you pick, its how many go into a glass that counts and Oldfields has a very high fresh juice content which you notice straight away when you bring it to your nose. There is some sweetness when you taste it from all the juice but a zinginess too (is that a word?) that cleans your palate, lifted by the gentle sparkle.
Secondly, as for our bottled Oldfields Orchard ciders it has 'Protected Geographical Indication' status as real Worcestershire cider as all our apples are grown in the orchards around Oldfields at Frith Common near Tenbury Wells.
We're very proud of its provenance and you will see Worcestershire on all our drip mats, bar runners and glasses. Worcestershire is one of the famous 'three counties' also including Herefordshire and Gloucestershire that has been making cider for centuries and although Herefordshire has perhaps become more well known in recent years we are keen to blow the trumpet for our county!
Thirdly, as well as using local apples from our own orchards and those of our neighbours, Oldfields is pressed, fermented and blended and put into kegs on site. We don't use third parties, the chaps from Oldfields and Hobsons brewers do the whole job from start to finish. This is what we mean by craft cider - it is not manufactured.
Finally, we do not use any artificial flavours or sweeteners so all the flavour comes from our apples.
If you would like to try it there are around 20 pubs in our area that sell it. Find them on our where to shop page or tweet us on @oldfieldscider or Facebook Oldfields Orchard Cider and we'll get back to you.
