Mulled cider can be made on the hob in 30 minutes by mixing these ingredients and leaving the flavours to infuse into the cider as it is gently heated. Do not boil.

  • Two litres of Oldfields Original

  • Two eating apples studded with cloves

  • 4 Cinnamon sticks

  • 6 Allspice berries

  • The zest of an orange

  • Slices of eating apple and perhaps a dash of rum to finish

Alternatively, if you're in a hurry or making large quantities like we do at festivals we have found that high quality mulling syrup (which is also free of duty and VAT) is perfect for the job.

We use Selsley Mulling Syrup to make ours by diluting 1 part syrup with 10 parts Oldfields Original Cider. You can buy this syrup in local farm shops and delis. We wouldn't suggest you try it with commercial or sweet cider as it contains sugar and you don't need to make it any sweeter.

If you are a landlord and stock Oldfields Cider on your bar then you can buy mulling syrup from Hobsons Brewery at a subsidised price. Please contact us for details.
